SQL Server /PowerCenter Developer

This role is ideally based in Waterloo to facilitate collaboration within the team, although candidates from Toronto/GTA etc. may be considered with a commitment to attending the Waterloo office regularly.

The Role
We are seeking to hire a contract Microsoft SQL Server/Informatica PowerCenter developer. Daily responsibilities include SQL Server SQL/Stored Procedures and PowerCenter workflow/mapping creation and maintenance, as well as creating, testing, and debugging SQL objects used by internal applications and reports.
The team is experiencing increased workloads, particularly related to managing derivative transactions. The SQL Developers are expected to handle current workflows and contribute to process improvements and automation, potentially alleviating manual processes currently in place.

Key Requirements
- Strong SQL skills are essential especially for on-prem systems.
- Familiarity with PowerCenter for data integration
- Experience with Autosys for job scheduling and automation
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- 3+ years of relevant SQL experience, ideally within FSI (3+ years of experience in SQL Server or PowerCenter development, and ability to handle multiple assignments)
- University or college-level qualifications in technology, business or related field
- Experience with T-SQL
- Daily written and verbal interaction with the development team and internal clients
- Ability to deliver and perform under pressure and on time
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly
- Experience with fixed income securities helpful
- Creative thinking; Enjoyment of problem solving
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to respond negatively to a Disciplinary History Questionnaire as required by securities regulations

Day to Day
- Develop and maintain SQL Server objects
- Create and maintain PowerCenter ELT processes
- Work with application developers and end users in providing data referenced by internal applications and custom reports
- Work directly with end users to troubleshoot existing and develop new solutions
- Employ creative strategies to uncommon tasks
