Senior Full Stack Developer (Front End/UI Primary)

The Role

Our client’s IT Platforms and Engineering team is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer with extensive UI experience, to join them for an exciting new contract to FTE opportunity. This team is dedicated to delivering exceptional technology solutions for digital clients, working closely with Architecture, Operations, Journey, and Platform teams to foster an innovative engineering culture. The aim is to enhance financial security, health, and connectivity for clients.  The successful candidate will be integral to an Agile team, focusing on the development, support, and analysis of large-scale applications and systems. We are looking for a team player with strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, initiative, and accountability as well as strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with system designers, business analysts, application analysts, and testing specialists to develop high-quality web applications tailored to user needs.
  • Write efficient, high-quality, and well-documented code.
  • Perform estimation, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation tasks as needed.
  • Develop unit and integration tests, and create automation tools.
  • Advocate for continuous improvements in user experience, code sustainability, and application security.
  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies.


  • 5+ years of professional front end/web development experience.
  • Advanced skills in JavaScript/ES6, React.js, HTML, CSS/SCSS, Webpack, XML/JSON.
  • Experience with multiple languages/technologies: Java, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, API development, Open API, AJAX, SOAP, REST, C#, ASP.NET.
  • Solid understanding of web applications and platforms, including Windows Server, Linux, WebSphere Liberty, and familiarity with frameworks like Bootstrap.
  • Database experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and MongoDB.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Bitbucket, CDD, Jenkins, Gradle).
  • Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1), accessibility tools, and assistive technologies.
  • Proficiency with developer tools and debugging techniques (e.g., SonarQube, SonarLint).
  • Expertise in developing responsive web designs and testing across multiple browsers, devices, and platforms.
  • Experience in building single-page applications (React SPA) and using React Hooks.
  • Knowledge of OWASP secure coding guidelines.
  • Commitment to staying updated with web development trends – both frontend and backend.

Preferred Qualifications/Nice to Have

  • Experience with Design Systems (e.g., Storybook.js).
  • Familiarity with web development stacks such as Parsley.js, AXIOS, React-Bootstrap, React Context, Node.js.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager
  • Experience in an Agile development environment

Special Requirements

  • Occasional travel between client’s office locations may be required depending on the assignment.
  • Periodic weekend/after-hours work may be necessary for project implementations and system upgrades from time to time.
  • Eligibility for special clearance from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is a plus.
