Job Title: Senior/Lead GenAI Engineer
Location: Remote – Local to Kitchener/Waterloo/Toronto
Job Type: Contract 6 months + Extensions
Overview: We are seeking a Senior/Lead GenAI Engineer to drive the development and deployment of innovative AI-powered solutions using AWS’s GenAI ecosystem. You will be responsible for leading the technical efforts and ensuring the seamless integration of AI tools into various business use cases, particularly for Corporate IT departments such as Actuarial, Finance, HR, and Compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, from chatbot implementation to advanced reporting and data visualization tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead GenAI Development: Take full ownership of GenAI initiatives by leveraging AWS AI services (such as Bedrock, Kendra, Comprehend, Lambda, and vector databases) to design and implement AI-driven solutions.
- AI Use Case Development: Develop new AI use cases, with a focus on creating applications for internal stakeholders including Actuarial, Finance, HR, and Compliance.
- AWS Integration: Directly implement and manage the AWS AI ecosystem, building robust data pipelines and AI-powered solutions to meet evolving business needs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, developers, project managers, and business analysts to enhance the GenAI framework and capabilities.
- Data Engineering: Manage and optimize the data engineering process, including building efficient ETL pipelines using Python, PySpark, and handling entity relationships with AWS Redshift.
- Automation and Optimization: Create scalable and automated processes to streamline internal business workflows and improve operational efficiency across departments.
- Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and team members, fostering knowledge sharing and upskilling in GenAI and AWS technologies.
Top Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with AWS GenAI services, including but not limited to Bedrock, Kendra, Comprehend, Lambda, and vector databases.
- Proven track record of deploying and managing AI-driven projects, ideally using the AWS ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with data engineering technologies, including Python, PySpark, and AWS Redshift.
- Ability to develop and maintain ETL pipelines to process and transform data for AI and machine learning applications.
- Deep understanding of entity relationships and data structuring within the AWS environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive complex technical solutions from concept to production.
- Familiarity with AI-powered tools like Amazon QuickSight and building reporting tools to streamline business operations.
- Previous experience in developing AI solutions for internal business functions like Finance, HR, Compliance, or Actuarial is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, able to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field (Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI/ML).
- Familiarity with additional AWS services related to machine learning and AI model deployment.
- Experience in agile project management and cross-functional team leadership.
