Director, Strategic Project Development and Partnerships
A mission-driven organization at the forefront of climate innovation is seeking a Director, Strategic Project Development and Partnerships to lead its engagement and permitting strategy across Canada. Reporting directly to the executive team, this role will guide the regulatory and stakeholder-facing aspects of large-scale infrastructure projects focused on environmental impact.
You will play a key leadership role in managing the end-to-end permitting lifecycle, navigating complex regulatory environments, and building trusted partnerships with governments, Indigenous communities, and regional stakeholders. Your work will ensure the successful deployment of transformative climate infrastructure projects that are community-aligned, environmentally responsible, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
Permitting & Regulatory Coordination

Lead the preparation, submission, and oversight of permitting applications (environmental, utility, energy, etc.) to ensure projects remain on schedule.

Navigate federal, provincial, and municipal approval processes across multiple jurisdictions.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement

Establish and maintain relationships with municipal officials, Indigenous governments and organizations, local communities, and relevant regional stakeholders.

Facilitate meaningful, transparent dialogue that supports long-term, trust-based partnerships.
Government & Policy Alignment

Support engagement strategies with provincial authorities, particularly in Western Canada, to align project goals with evolving economic, regulatory, and environmental priorities.
Internal Collaboration

Partner with internal development, engineering, and commercial teams to integrate permitting requirements into broader project planning.

Coordinate with external consultants and legal advisors to manage compliance and risk.
Monitoring & Insights

Track regulatory developments, permitting timelines, and policy shifts, providing actionable insights to cross-functional teams.
Candidate Profile
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, public policy, natural resources, or a related field.
Experience:

3–8 years of relevant experience in permitting, stakeholder engagement, environmental assessments, or infrastructure project development.

Background in energy, environmental infrastructure, or related sectors within Canada is highly valuable.

Experience working with Indigenous communities and navigating regional government processes is a strong asset.

Project management skills are a plus.
